Dow Chemical Company Mayflower EPDM Project

The Dow Mayflower project won the Pelican ABC Chapter Excellence in Construction award and was runner up for the national ABC Eagle award. It was also selected by Louisiana Contractor Magazine as one of its "Best of 1997" Construction Projects.

The Mayflower EPDM Project at Dow Chemical's Louisiana Division included the construction of a new processing unit, as well as off-site modular construction consisting of 59 modules, a new packaging and shipping facility, and the installation of a new flare stack. ISC was awarded a negotiated lump sum contract by the General Contractor, Performance Contractors, Inc. to perform the instrumentation and electrical work for the project.

The scope of ISC's work for the Mayflower EPDM Project consisted of the complete installation of instrumentation and electrical systems for the new processing unit and the new packaging and shipping facility. ISC was also responsible for the installation of temporary power systems for the project site and for the off-site module fabrication yard.

Control Room Instrumentation The control room portion of the instrumentation system included the installation of a DCS Mod-V control system, a Bently Nevada vibration system, control room junction boxes, cable tray, conduit, and interconnecting cables. ISC was also responsible for all terminations, systems checkouts, and loop check.

Field Instrumentation The field portion of the instrumentation system included the field instrument calibration and installation. Also included were the installation of field junction boxes, instrument air piping, process tubing, nitrogen purge systems, aluminum cable tray, rigid galvanized conduit, and instrument cables. Instrument calibration and loop checks were included in this work. The following is a breakdown of the items and the quantities installed on ISC's portion of the project:
