SAFETY
It’s a cold, it’s the flu, it’s allergies!
It’s the time of year when people have that post-holiday crash. Noses are running, chests are full of congestion, and you can’t get enough sleep. Here are a few ways you can boost your immune system to stay healthy and prevent those nasty illnesses:
- Eat immune-boosting foods
- Fatty (omega-3) fish: Salmon, Trout, Albacore Tuna
- Citrus: Oranges, Lemons, Limes
- Garlic
- Broccoli
- Get enough consistent sleep
- Adults need 7+ hours each night, on average
- Your body will function better if you’re in a routine and go to sleep around the same time every night
- Limit your sugar intake
- Sugar is linked to all sorts of inflammation, which can lead to various chronic illnesses
- Stay hydrated
- This is especially important for those working outside!
- Dehydration can lead to headaches, fatigue, hinder digestion and impact the function of your kidneys and cardiovascular system.
COMPLIANCE
Associate Handbook Policy 2.1 Hiring Policy
At ISC, we are proud of our wonderful associates and pride ourselves on having a merit-based hiring process. So, what does all this mean? Here are some FAQs on our hiring practices:
Why are ISC associates considered wonderful?
Being “Powered by People” has made ISC a leader in developing the electrical industry’s workforce. Collectively we are highly skilled and dedicated individuals who enjoy a challenging yet rewarding environment. We strive to follow high standards of ethical business practices and personal integrity, which is why we maintain a reputation for honesty, fairness, respect, responsibility, integrity, trust, and sound judgment.
What is Merit Based Hiring?
Merit-based hiring means we consider, as part of the hiring process, many different factors, including skills and ability to perform the job, prior satisfactory employment with us, employment references as to character and willingness to work, willingness to accept the offered wages, and personal interview. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity, genetic information, union affiliation, or any other protected status.
Additionally, no associate or applicant is required to pay any money to any individual or dues to any labor organization to join ISC’s workforce. Associates are prohibited from requesting or receiving any form of compensation in exchange for the associate’s recommendation or referral of a candidate for employment. Violation of this rule will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment for the associate requesting or receiving compensation.
Should I refer my friends and former coworkers?
Yes! If you know someone who is qualified and interested in working here (and would be a great co-worker), we encourage you to refer them to apply for open positions via the company’s website.
Where can I find additional information on this policy or other policies?
This policy is part of the Associate Handbook which is housed on the Associate Portal. The same place where pay stubs are viewed.
