ISC Receives National Excellence in Construction Award for Shell Chemical / ExxonMobil Project

Baton Rouge, LA, March 17 — ISC today announced the company received a national Excellence in Construction (EIC) Eagle award for its performance on the Shell Chemical / ExxonMobil Sorrento Salt Dome RGP Connection Project. The EIC awards program is the industry’s leading competition that honors contractors for world-class, safe and innovative construction projects.

“For over 30 years, ISC has served as a premier contractor for ExxonMobil and Shell, playing a vital role in keeping their facilities in an optimal condition for global competitiveness,” said Jerry Rispone, Co-founder & CEO. “Congratulations to the project team for their commitment to excellence while building on the confidence our industry has in ISC’s ability to perform.”

ISC was awarded a lump sum contract to complete major upgrades for equipment and pipeline systems. Shell and ExxonMobil relied on ISC’s technical knowledge, demonstrated commitment to safety and proven quality assurance techniques to accomplish critical project deliverables. The environmental and safety issues were unique considering the salt dome structure, its location in a harsh Louisiana swamp and wildlife sensitivities. In addition, the work took place during the COVID-19 pandemic and was completed without any confirmed illnesses and with zero OSHA Recordables.

“ABC has honored award-winning construction projects like Shell Chemical / ExxonMobil Sorrento Salt Dome RGP Connection Project because the ISC team exemplifies excellence in our industry,” said 2021 ABC National Chair of the Board of Directors Steve Klessig. “This world-class construction project is a vital part of our economic engine, built safely, on time and under budget, and it is an honor to congratulate ISC for their commitment to setting the standard for excellence in construction.”

The national EIC award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects, selected from entries across the nation, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost. This year’s panel included representatives from Building Owners and Managers Association International, Smithsonian Facilities Construction Division, Construction Management Association of America, Engineering News-Record, Design-Build Institute of America and various construction-related firms nationwide.
