For over 35 years, ISC has provided safe, high quality industrial electrical, instrumentation, and controls solutions to leading global manufacturers. With offices in Baton Rouge, Beaumont, Houston, Corpus Christi, and Columbus, we have grown to a team of nearly 3,000 associates offering full-service engineering, construction, and maintenance services throughout the United States.
ISC’s daily practices ensure that we adhere to the highest standards and work to address the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals using, and in accordance with, GRI. With this commitment and its principles of action, ISC expects each of its suppliers to work towards this same commitment to provide sustainable economic growth benefitting people, planet, and prosperity, for now and future generations.
Business Conduct and Ethics
ISC aims to conduct all business affairs in an honest and ethical manner. ISC is committed to the prevention of fraud, bribery, money laundering, and conflicts of interest, to ensure that an ethical code protects our associates and clients at all levels of the company. We take a zero-tolerance approach and are committed to acting professionally, fairly, and with integrity, in all business dealings and relationships where our company operates. If any associate is unsure of whether something is in violation of any anti-corruption laws or policies, they are obliged to speak up. Bribery, fraud, money laundering, conflicts of interest, and corruption are serious offenses and are the responsibility of ISC’s Compliance Department.
Cyber security is an ever-important measure in protecting the privacy of our clients, vendors and associates, and is critical to our ability to maintain their trust. ISC fully understands how the risks related to information security and privacy affect our business operations. We take every precaution to safeguard sensitive information to ensure a safe and secure online environment. Security risk assessments are conducted weekly. Any person given access to ISC’s data receives cyber security training, monthly cyber security alerts, and periodic simulated phish emails to combat any potential security risk.
Labor and Human Rights
ISC’s most significant asset is its associates. ISC prides itself on an innovative and strong safety and health culture. Working conditions, workforce development (including opportunities for advancement), and training on HSE risk and best work practices, such ISC’s unique Electrical Demo Process, are areas in which ISC works to continuously improve. Investing in our associates is paramount for our business, along with the primary directive to provide a safe and healthful workplace for all persons, with an end goal being zero injuries. This is accomplished through frequent skills and safety training for all associates, safety inspections and audits conducted by onsite supervision with corporate oversight, weekly review of any recent incidents with all site personnel (including root cause and corrective measures taken), and implementation of engineered risk mitigation as a primary practice and while implementing PPE (personal protective equipment) as a final measure.
ISC is committed to the zero-tolerance policies adopted by the U.S. and other governments to combat slavery or the trafficking of persons for any purpose with an annual target of zero incidents. We expect our suppliers to uphold these guiding principles as well. ISC conducts a periodic Human Rights Impact Assessments to determine actual and potential issues. We are adamantly opposed to any form of modern slavery, child labor, or forced labor and will work diligently to prevent. No person under 18 years of age shall work for ISC. Per the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act, all non-exempt associates receive time and a half for any work performed more than 40 hours per week. ISC prohibits all discrimination based on race, color, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation. Associate identification documents (passports, drivers licenses, visas, etc.) are retained (original and/or copies) per federal and/or state regulations for a maximum of 6 years. Responsible parties for this policy are a collaboration of the Safety & Health Team, Compliance Team, and the Training & Advancement Team.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
It is the established policy of ISC to provide equal employment opportunities, with no gender gap pay, to all qualified persons and to administer all terms and conditions of employment without regard to race, religion, color, sex, sexual identity or orientation, pregnancy, age, national origin, ethnicity, disability, protected veteran status, genetic information, marital status, or any other protected classification, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. This diversity in our workforce enables us to provide valuable services to our customers. It also provides the ability to attract and develop the most capable and brightest talent in our industry.
The focus on integrity drives ISC’s commitment to equality and inclusion. It is part of our compass as we strive to build a culture that shows no partiality, welcoming the differences of others. Acceptance of others establishes the trust required to achieve greatness in all aspects of life. This trust brings us closer to each other, our customers, and the communities we serve.
Whistleblower and Stop Work
ISC holds in the highest regard the entitlement of every associate to a safe working environment. Our corporate and site management teams work diligently to provide safe working conditions on every ISC worksite. A Stop Work/Whistleblower policy is an integral component to achieve a safe working environment.
We at ISC encourage and applaud all associates to report all safety and health, environmental, labor or human rights, and ethics issues. ISC’s Stop Work/Whistleblower Program encourages associates to stop and speak up without fears of repercussions.
Sustainable Procurement
ISC’s vendor/supplier code of conduct policy is in place to ensure personnel are treated fairly and are provided with safe working conditions. Our Procurement Team works with our local vendors, giving added support back to the community. We strive to encourage our suppliers and vendors to work towards their own Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) or sustainability plan in accordance with the UN Global Compact. ISC’s target is to ensure all our vendors have initiated some type of ESG plan by 2030. If needed, ISC will assist our suppliers and vendors in developing and/or improving their ESG or sustainability plan. This will in turn provide ISC with a known sustainable procurement base of providers.
Environment
The environment we live and work in is very important to ISC and its owners. In the instance that ISC’s activities may have an impact on the environment, we will take every effort to work towards a feasible mitigation plan. For many years, ISC has been a corporate sponsor for Baton Rouge Green to raise awareness about the importance of trees and greenspace as critical infrastructure to further combat GHG emissions. Since 2021, ISC tracks its GHG emissions and looks for opportunities to limit those emissions. In the area of energy conservation, one target being implemented is to convert all campus lighting to LED lighting. For 2024, we plan to add bottle fillers to our offices to eliminate the need for bottled water (plastic bottles), with a target to have all department/offices convert by 2030. To that end, ISC is committed to a 10% decrease in GHG intensity by 2030, using 2019 as the base year and encourage our suppliers to meet or exceed that target.
ISC is currently ESG reporting in reference to GRI and disclosing to ISNetworld, Avetta, Together for Sustainability (TfS), and EcoVadis.
