SAFETY FIRST
As temperatures drop across the nation, seasonal hazards become a serious concern both on and off the job site. Cold stress, slippery surfaces, and increased illness can impact safety, productivity, and overall well‑being. Preparing now helps protect our teams, our families, and our communities.
Stay Safe with These Winter Best Practices
Flu & Illness Prevention
- Wash hands frequently and sanitize shared surfaces
- Stay home when sick to avoid spreading illness to the crew
- Keep your immune system strong with adequate rest, hydration, and nutrition
Cold Weather Safety
- Dress in layers to conserve heat and prevent hypothermia
- Base Layer = Moisture-Wicking (Avoid Cotton)
- Middle Layer(s) = Insulating (Fleece/Wool)
- Outer Layer = Windproof, Waterproof, Flame-Resistant
- Use insulated gloves & hats when appropriate
- Take warm‑up breaks indoors or in heated shelters
Ice & Slip Prevention
- Walk slowly and take shorter, deliberate steps on icy or wet surfaces
- Use handrails and watch for black ice in parking lots and walkways
- Wear slip‑resistant footwear with good tread
- Report icy conditions immediately so they can be addressed
Winter Driving Hazards
- Allow extra travel time during freezing conditions or low‑visibility mornings
- Increase following distance and brake gently to avoid skidding
- Keep your vehicle stocked with essentials: scraper, blanket, flashlight, and emergency kit
- Avoid travel when conditions become unsafe; notify your supervisor as needed
COMPLIANCE
Pregnancy Accommodations – What to Know
At ISC Constructors, associates are treated fairly during pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. While all applicable laws are followed, associate well-being remains a priority. Key points include:
- Equal Treatment: Associates experiencing pregnancy-related conditions are entitled to the same benefits and privileges as others with similar ability or inability to work.
- Reasonable Accommodations: If requested and appropriate, reasonable accommodations will be provided.
- No Retaliation: Requesting accommodations will never result in retaliation or intentional adverse employment action.
For more information, refer to the Pregnancy Leave and Associated Accommodations Policy in the Associate Handbook. Questions or accommodation requests should be directed to Corporate HR Compliance.

On behalf of everyone at ISC/Westlake Plaquemine, we would like to congratulate you on your retirement and sincerely thank you for your last 5 years of dedicated service as an electrician on site.

Shintech – Plaquemine, LA
December 17th, 2025, the ISC nested Shintech Plaquemine site made their one-year Safe Anniversary. Associates took on the challenge to make the site safer and to make their safety record better. Across 132,463 work hours, they have not experienced any safety incidents, including those as minor as first-aid needs. Given all the unique challenges in working on a maintenance site, this has been no small feat.
Chuck Browning, Construction Manager, says, “I would like to extend a thank you for their commitment and hard work to the Maintenance team, Maintenance Support group and the Capitol Projects group. Keep up the good work!!!”

BENEFITS
New 401k Limits, Rules, and Annual Escalation for 2026
The 2026 IRS Annual Limits per Age for Retirement Contributions:
New Rule for Age 50+ High Earners:
Starting in 2026, if you are turning age 50 or older and earned more than $150,000 in FICA wages (Box 3 on your W2) in the prior year, any age-based catch-up contributions you make must be made as Roth (after-tax) contributions.
-
- If you qualify, please refer to the email Important Update Affecting Catch-Up Contributions – New Rules for 2026 you received on 1/5/26 for additional details.
Paystub and Portal Updates for Associates Age 50+
Due to updated IRS rules, the appearance of your contributions on your paystubs and on the ISC Associate Portal is changing:
On your paystub: All contributions up to the standard limit ($24,500) will appear on the 401k (RothK) deduction code on your paystub. Any contributions above that limit will start appearing on the 401k w/ Catchup (RothK w/ Catchup) code of your paystub for all age-based catch-up contributions. Previously, associates 50 and over had all contributions on the 401k and/or Roth catchup codes only.
On your Associate Portal: because contribution percentages must be housed on both the 401k (RothK) and 401k w/ Catchup (RothK w/ Catchup) codes, it may appear in the ISC Associate Portal’s Benefit Summary as if you are set up for double the contribution percentage you elected. That is not the case; it is appearing as doubled because of the way the percentage must now be housed on two codes in Vista.
Annual Escalation
ISC’s annual retirement contribution auto-escalation will occur on the pay cycle for the week ending April 5, 2026.
- Your current contribution percentage will automatically increase by 2% unless you are a recent hire (within the last year) or have made/make a change between 4/1/2025 and 3/31/2026.
- Change: If you would like to increase your contribution but prefer a different amount, you will need to contact Nationwide Retirement.
- Opt Out: If you wish to opt out of the increase this year, you must take action no later than March 31, 2026.
Please refer to the memo on the Associate Portal titled ISC 401(k) Escalation: Action Needed for additional details.
