ISC: Bridging the Gap, Shaping the Workforce

Posted September 25, 2018

Baton Rouge, LA – For over a decade, ISC has been actively involved  in the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Program Partners Signing Day.  Each year, ABC supports local high schools with dedicated  industrial contractors interested in working with students  enrolled in craft training programs.  Again this year, ISC Associates shared their time and expertise with several area high schools, demonstrating their commitment by signing  an agreement to provide additional technical assistance with training modules and alignment on educational materials to shape the workforce of the future.

The event brings together experienced industry representatives and high school officials to achieve one goal – developing students to succeed as skilled craft persons. Through Program Partners Signing Day, ISC furthers its commitment to increasing the quality and number of talented craft professionals.

As part of this venture, ISC interacts with high schools by providing guest speakers, donating materials, and assisting with hands on lab activities. Students are able to obtain National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) credentials that put them on a fast track towards completing certifications after graduation, a great need in our growing industry.

ABC Pelican Program Partners Signing Day“These types of programs are vital to the construction industry,” said Ronnie Gulino, ISC Corporate Training Manager. “They afford us the opportunity to visit with high school students, teachers and parents and promote careers in the construction industry. It also allows us to assist young professionals as they begin to enter the workforce.”

Through the signing, ISC hopes to support and develop students that are looking for options outside of college. Skilled construction professionals are in high demand and through programs like this, high school graduates are offered valuable training and successful career paths.
