ISC Earns 10th Excellence Award from GBRIA

Baton Rouge, LA –ISC Constructors, LLC (ISC) recently received the Craft Workforce Development Excellence Award for Hard Craft Division II at the Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance (GBRIA) 10th Annual Craft Workforce Development Awards Banquet. This marks ISC’s 10th consecutive GBRIA Excellence Award, as the company has received one each year since the inception of the award program in 2007.

Ron Landry, Dow Louisiana Operations Reliability, Maintenance, Engineering & Construction Director and award presenter commented, “Congratulations on this outstanding achievement.  The continued dedication to developing our craft workforce contributes greatly to the success of our community and the people who live and work here.”

The presentation was held on September 14th at the Marriott Hotel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Area high schools, high school educators, as well as skilled craft contracting companies and industrial facilities received top awards. Approximately 350 guests attended the event where Mr. Tom Yura, Senior Vice President at BASF in Geismar, Louisiana, presented the keynote address on crucial efforts to “Sustain Louisiana’s Workforce” after the recent period of doubling the craft workforce.

The program recognized industrial construction and maintenance contract companies who demonstrated excellence in investing in workforce development programs. Award recipients personified elements of an excellent program, including: recruitment, assessment, training, career path development and retention of employees. Nominations of contractors were provided by BASF, Deltech, The Dow Chemical Company, ExxonMobil, Nalco, Olin, OxyChem, Shell Chemical, Shell Refining, and Syngenta.

High schools, nominated by ISC, industrial owners and other area contractors, were awarded for an outstanding performance of implementing career and technical education classes related to construction. Central High School, a partner of ISC, received an Award of Merit. In addition, ISC partner Dutchtown High School received an Award of Recognition.
